KOREA & U.S.: ILLUSTRATION: JOHN CHAE

Although John Chae currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida, the artist and painter grew up in Seoul, Korea and was born in Colorado. Perhaps this multi-cultural influence explains why Chae says,”For me, creativity comes from deciding to be fascinated with the world.”

As an artist, he constantly reorganizes inspiration to “create something fascinating for others” and for himself. Though Chae explains, “I use the term fascination very lightly. I guess it’s the most positive way for me to say ‘having a reaction’ towards something. For me, being an artist is just a state of mind, an attitude. I don’t have an endgame or goal with each piece, rather each artwork is just a marker, a visual product of a more internal process of sifting through my own experience.”

You can explore John Chae’s mind further through his personal website and find more brilliant creativity on Mango Popsicle’s Facebook page.
